The 2022 Christmas Lunch of the Harrogate Medical Wine Society was held on Sunday 11 December at Sasso Restaurant in Harrogate
The celebrations started at 11.30 in the morning with a Champagne Reception. With amuse-bouche, Sasso’s Gabriel and Sarah served Pierre-Gimonnet Millésime de Collection 2005 from magnums.
Lunch started at 1215 hrs. The homemade Lobster Ravioli in a Cream of Coconut and Saffron Bisque was paired with Te Mata Elston Chardonnay, 2019.
Local Spring Rack of Lamb Rossini style, crusted with Italian herbs and served with Pancetta and Pea Mash, Foie Gras and a Lamb Jus was accompanied by La Rioja Alta Vina Ardanza Reserva 2007 en magnum & Vergelegen Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2016.
The dessert was Ricotta and Dark Chocolate Tart with Pistachio Ice Cream and Sicilian Orange Coulis.
Warre’s Quinta do Bomfim Vintage Port 2001 en magnum was sipped before coffee.
(28 members of the Harrogate Medical Wine Society attended the lunch. All the wines served came from the Society’s cellar. The Christmas Raffle was drawn at the end of the lunch.)
