Provisional Tasting List

  1. Tio Pepe En Rama – Tio Pepe En Rama 2016 & 2017 (Q: Can En Rama age?)
  2. Barone Ricasoli Torricella IGT Toscana 2015
  3. Sancerre Rouge Les Champs Clos 2015

“Sancerre Rouge is the archetypal summer red wine – not that that should stop you drinking it at any other time, but it’s Pinot Noir at its most refreshing and elegant. This one, made at La Cave des Vins de Sancerre, has a raspberry, strawberry and pomegranate fruit quality and oodles of gentle charm. Serve it cool, but not so heavily chilled that you silence it. It’s one of the best reds to drink with fish, especially salmon, red mullet and cod or monkfish wrapped in parma ham. It can also partner bresaola, quail or chicken and, if you like red wine as an aperitif, this would be perfect.” (£13, Sainsbury’s) – Joanna Simon MW

  4. Celler del Roure Safra, Valencia 2015: New rare wine from the rare Mando grape
  5. Eggo Malbec, Argentina: “There is, of course, a lot of malbec that doesn’t reach those giddy heights, but that nevertheless provides highly enjoyable drinking. While the most impressive ones come from Argentina – for example, the brilliantly named Eggo Malbec 2015 (£16 Marks & Spencer; 14% abv), which is fashionably aged in concrete eggs, and would be well worth buying on one of the store’s periodic 25%-off deals.” – Fiona Beckett
